oh, maybe I should comment on the post.

using people who are schizophrenic as the norm to talk about medicating disorders is like using [some extreme version of something] to talk about [a very open topic].

Like using serial baby rapists as an example when talking about sex offenders generally?

or using a gay man who intentionally gives AIDS to people as an example of homosexuals. or using a dog that was trained to fight as an example of a pit bull. you know the drill. ;D

My antidepressant was a lifesaver, and surprise, I no longer need it. It's not a life sentence.

And even if you do need it for life, it isn't anymore of a life sentence than, y'know, being born.

I'm not even gonna go there. I didn't like being in psych. I didn't enjoy it. I didn't want to be there. It helped.

The fact is, if you have a dangerous condition, people have a right not to be subjected to it. If the solution is medication, wll the needs of the many win out over the rights of one.

And here I thought drugs for mental illnesses were meant to be stepping stones to recovery. Boy, shows what I know.

Yup. In conjunction with therapy and other treatments to gently bring things back into line.

Sorry, I meant for that to more clearly come across as sarcasm. I'm a first-hand example that it, plus therapy plus just plain supportive people around, is in fact a stepping stone.
