Wtf @ internet celebrities. Short of Wonkette and that guy who runs PostSecret, I don't know of any that the general public *might* have any knowledge of.

And it's nice to know my BA in English is going to be useless in getting to law school. I didn't realize all I needed was a high school diploma. That would be awesome, though.

Psh, knock her off that comment, then.

She (Ana Marie Cox) used to write for a political satire blog, but she's got an irl job now, and is only a guest writer once in a while. And that's all I pretty much know about her.

So...

How about them sports?

My degree was a waste of time.

But that was because it was in Sociology. Kids, don't pick a degree at 17 to rebel against your parents because they wouldn't let you go to art school.

Even most of the people I know who have a degree work in a field that has little to no relation to it. Our Junior Network Admin has a degree in Geology. ^_^

My parents desperately tried to talk me out of art school, but they let me go anyway. When I called my mom (a social worker), to tell her how much I liked my Sociology 101 class, she said "Oh DON'T YOU DARE. I majored in sociology, and I've been poor my whole life!" She freaked out on me.

I am a sociology degree holder as well. It was the degree I could get the fastest with all math and science credits I had from my first major (zoology). Now I'm in grad school and things still look bleak.

I am currently remodeling a lovely cardboard box which, when finished, will be the envy of all other sociology majors.

Well, that was a BIG WTF at that specific college.

And that hippy's from the Netherlands. (OH GOD THE SHROOMS IN HIS LJ MMM) Er, anyway, they rank up there with the French for American Hating. Generally, people who don't like globalisation don't like the U.S.

Oh, side note, the school in the initial post reminds me of the guy I knew who went to Liberty U who got expelled because they found a Billy Joel CD in his dorm.

My grandmother actually campaigned to get me sent to Liberty U. My response was an emphatic HELL NO.

awwww.... I love Amis, but that's beside the point.

You know that fucktard who says man, spending money on college is a waste of time and i pity anyone who has been taught to believe otherwise. if you're dumb enough to think that paying 120k for a sheet of paper is going to land you a good job and solve all your worldly problems, you've got a lot more learning to do than you think. is so shtoooopid.

College is about EDUCATION, not about getting rich (which some majors do have to offer).

Plus a lot of colleges have really good job-placement programs, which is easier sometimes than finding a job in your field on your own.
