I wash my cat once a month. I'm allergic to cats, but I love mine so much that I refuse to give him up. I take my medication daily, and to help with the dander, he gets a washing. He keeps himself clean, but he gets washed to loosen the hair and the dander. No matter what you do, a cat's going to freak out... unless they're one of those Bengal cats who loves water. Frankly, my cat would prefer that machine than me.
One of our cats is half-Bengal, he's a Bombay, which is half Bengal, half British short hair, bred to look like a miniature panther, and very friendly disposition. He's got these amazing muscles, and HATES baths. We've only had to do it twice in six years, but the poor baby violently struggles. And yet, he's fascinated by humans in baths. That must be the Bengal part.
Well, my cat always seemed to remember what a bathtub looked like in general, because any tub we took him near, whether he'd been in or near it before or not, he'd freak out.
