I saw this post when it had just one comment on it, and thought, "Hmmm, future Stupid Gold".

And that was before realizing that the OP misspelled "Sesame Street". Twice:

Has anyone else noticed that every single baby on Seseme Street uses a bottle? That every single time they talk about babies, they talk about bottles? That they are obsessed withRead more... )

What if it's pumped?

Still, bottles are all evil. We have to destroy them all.

I'm now picturing the boob nazis bombing baby care aisles, much like an abortion clinic terrorist.

Sesame Street is evil for many, many other more important reasons. Bleh.

There's an article that I can't find the explains my reasoning in great detail. Basically Sesame Street has become really dumbed down compared to what we saw when we were little. Alot of it involves Elmo...

Yeah, I despise Elmo. it does seem a lot dumber from what I recall from seeing it while sick in bed a few years ago.

I must admit, the daycare comment made me LOL. God forbid mothers go back to work -- this means their kids will grow up evil and stupid and not at all like the genius babies of those who stayed at home with such wonderful spellers as bicrim.

It's really pretty insulting to working mothers the way they insist/imply that their children are so much better off with the mother at home. I would be very interested to see if there was any research that showed that. My suspicion is, it probably doesn't make a lick of differenc if the mother stays home or not. If the children are given love and attention when the parents are present, I'm sure the amount of time with the parents is a non-factor.

Well, what gets me, honestly, is their fervor in insisting at how much time they spend with the child while actively flame-warring on the internet. Those 2 hours you just spend glued to the computer trying to prove moms who work suck? Guess what you weren't doing! And it's different with a newborn, but most of these women have 2 years old who aren't sleeping in their lap or marathon nursing all day. Whatever, it's a bunch of stupid.

it's pretty insulting to me, as a kid whose mom worked, as well. i try not to take it personally but when people are all, 'mom who work aren't doing their job!' i'm like - well, what does that make me!? damaged goods? i actually think that i grew up a lot more independent (and learned how to cook for myself as well!) because i had a great career woman to look up to. some of my friends whose moms were home all the time went to college and just couldn't take care of themselves cause mommy wasn't waiting with a snack on the table as soon as they got home.

Riiight. Sesame Street is already getting flack for having "gay" characters, I'm sure people would be totally accepting of Prairie Dawn yanking up her shirt to breastfeed.

XD

There are gay characters? Dude, if I had known that I'd be watching! Is it Bob? I've always wondered about Bob...
