"Tell me, LJ... Should I finish this book? I'm too dumb to think for myself!"

I hate to say it, but this woman is another fountain of stupid that I share a community with.

John Irving, who is famous for his multi-plot novels and his multi-layerd characters is obviously way too deep for her. But then, this is the woman who thinks circumcision is TEH EEBIL!!!

Someone would have told her there were pictures in that book...

That should have read - someone should have told her there were NO pictures in the book. Jeebus...

That actually worked, too! XD

You know, like someone tells her there are pictures, and that strings her along until the end of the book.

Pretty soon people are going to post inquiries as to whether or not they should take a shit. And sure enough, someone will comment "Don't you think you should be watching your kids, not sitting on some environmentally unfriendly toilet?"

I don't really think it's taht stupid. She's basically asking if the book gets better/different or if she should give up on it.

I don't really see the stupid, unless the way she talks about the book is really silly or inaccurate.

I don't think asking if something gets better is the same thing as asking someone to make up your mind for you.

That's it exactly. She's too dumb to get it. First of all, the book was written in the 70's as a satire on the ERA, the feminist movement and post free love era. Secondly, it's considered a modern classic. Realize that I'm biased because I love Joh Irving, but this statement: Then again, John Irving does a piss poor job at characterization shows that she just isn't getting it. The man is known for his characterization.

At this point she should just watch the movie.

OMG, I know! My b/f is a big Irving fan, so perhaps I'm biased too, but that girl totally doesnt get it.

What you said.

Frankly, I'm just impressed that crazy bitch can read. And more impressed that the OP could stand to be in any community with her.

I think it's stupid.

The time it took her to write that entry and get everyone's opinions, is probably the same amount of time it would have taken her to just finish the damn thing.

Just what I was thinking. It's like that thing with the girl who wouldn't use the shift key in the grammar comm. Leaves me sitting there thinking "You DO realise how much time you're spending talking about this, don't you?"
