Mr. and Ms. Smith - A Doctor/Sarah Jane fanmix

Sep 25, 2008 02:14

Am busy busy busy. Really should not be here. Really should not be awake, gah. But if I don't post this now then I'll forget it, and then there'd be no point to this entire exercise.

And now, on to the fanmix! It may be a bit squishy and shippy, because that's kind of how I roll these days. Just thought I should warn you.

Sounds delightful, off to give it a listen! Looks like the "Day O' Classic Round 3: Electric Pertwee Boogaloo" title has sparked off quite a bit of lovely Three stuff, amongst others.

I know, right? For once I'm not the only person posting Three content on any given day. It's sort of dizzying. I don't quite know what to do with myself. XD

Ooh, great choice of songs! And grah, I have no Sarah Jane icon, so have some happy Jo instead. :)

I especially love the inclusion of You're My Best Friend, both because I'm a Queen nut and because it's so perfect for those two.
Also, it's interesting to see that you have Scarborough Fair in here, as I've also used it in a "writing mix" I've made for the OC companion that I'll be introducing in my girl!Doctor fics soon - only the choice in this case is because of a different part of the lyrics. And I didn't know about the Sarah Brightman cover (I do have one by the Moody Blues' guitarist Justin Hayward, though), so even if a fanmix of those two didn't fascinate me, that song alone would be reason enough for me to snag this.

I know, me neither! So many companions, so little icon space.

Scarborough Fair strikes me as a very good companions song in general (as does Walk on the Ocean), with its wistful tone and occasionally fanciful lyrics, but it seemed especially appropriate for a companion that the Doctor's come back to, after all this time. The Sarah Brightman version's lovely, too - it doesn't include the Canticle lyrics, but it's got this gorgeous piano bridge that makes up for it.
