New Vocabulary: "Pelmet"

If for a window the curtains are the shield, the pelmet is the helmet.

I love this a lot. Yay words!

Before today, I would have gone with "wooden valance thingy." The utility of "thingy" to signify "the previous word is inaccurate, but I don't have anyhthing better" is underrated. ;-D
