This one actually happened quite a while ago, but I've been urged to write it up.They clearly don't know each other, but they have two things in common - age and class. Bundled up against the cold in overcoats and scarves, the gentleman wears an old-fashioned check cap and the lady has a cosy headscarf. He holds her arm as they board the train in ( Read more... )

It made me try very hard not to laugh! They were kinda sweet, and it was a bit 'Oh, the rich...' but the old guy was faintly bemused and very proud, but not quite sure what to be proud of.

Please tell me EAT is the name of a popular London restaurant. Cause that would be awesome.

EAT is a sandwich chain. They're like the Starbucks of sandwiches.

As Doug said, though they aren't quite as ubiquitous as Starbucks; there are quite a few of them, though. They have concessions in Selfridges and at the Royal Festival Hall; quite high-end, competing with Pret a Manger. The website will give you an idea.

I rather like them. The soup's good, they do really nice pies, and a great chicken, red pesto and almond ciabatta.

And you can sit down.
