Status Change

Mar 31, 2006 21:54

His condition having stabilized, Stu has been moved from the heavily monitored ICU to a private room in the neurology wing of the hospital. No longer in critical condition, his status is now considered serious. Visitors are allowed, no more than three at a time.

He still shows no signs of waking.

We need to talk... murdoc_is_god April 2 2006, 08:20:41 UTC
Murdoc takes the bus to visit Stu. He thought he wouldn't come again and for a few days he held to that. There are things he needs to say to Stu, though, even if the boy can't hear him. He called ahead and found out Stu's been moved to a private room. He signs in at the front desk and gets a temporary pass to go up and visit ( ... )

Rose comes in several minutes later, carrying a small portable CD player and a book. She's made an effort to read to her son every day, and play music for him. All of the literature available suggested that sort of thing would be beneficial. It also helped to take her mind off of things.

She's looking rather drawn and tired, her eyes rimmed in red. She doesn't look nearly as put together as she normally does, and there's an air of vulnerability about her.

She sees Murdoc as soon as she's in the door, but she doesn't speak. She simply stands there, staring.

When he hears he door, it paralyzes him. It takes a moment for Muds to find the strength to lift his head and see her, and he knew it would be her. It couldn't be his father and that's the only thing he can think of that would be worse. He wipes his eyes and stares back like a cornered animal.

"Get out of his bed. Get out of it now." Her voice is quiet and shaking slightly. Her hand tightens on the handle of the CD player and she takes a step toward the bed. "Get out of his bed."

Sometime later, Henry comes by. He doesn't have anything with him, which he regrets as soon as he finds he actually can visit him. He's been too worried about the fact that Murdoc might be there. Well, if he is...he is. Henry resolves to bring CDs or something next time. Hopefully, there won't be a next time, because Stu'll be awake by then, but...

After asking a few different desks, Henry finds the right room. He looks in cautiously.

An angular blonde woman is seated next to the bed, quietly reading out loud to Stu. She looks up from her reading as Henry looks in to the room. Her head tilts slightly, a curious expression on her face. It's an expression worn by Stu quite often in the past.

"...Yes? Can I help you?" Slowly her expression changes into recognition as a realization comes to her. "You were in the musical."

He nods slowly. "Yeah. My name's Henry Townshend. I- I'm sorry, I just wanted to see him...I didn't mean to interrupt..." He trails off, looks at her feet. Of course Stu's mom is here. He had never met her before, but it's obvious that's who she is.

His eyes dart up to look at Stu, who looks the same as he did before, with maybe less machinery around him. He feels like he should leave, let this woman have some time with her son, but...he has to ask. "I...do you know anything about- uh...." He gropes for a phrase that doesn't sound terrible. He can't find one. "-whether he's going to be...uhm." He winces. "Sorry...I'll go."

She shakes her head slightly. "It's all right, I don't mind an interruption. I'm Rose...Stuart's mother. Though, you've probably figured that out..."

Her gaze falls on Stu when Henry asks his question, her hand absently toying with the collar of her blouse. Her expression falls, making her look tired and sad. "They don't know...there's...there's a lot of damage." She sighs and lowers her eyes. "There's no need to be sorry for visiting...he's always liked visiters. It's very kind of you come." She nods, offering a sad smile.
