Kate is trying to Christmas shop, but she has few people to buy for and just ends up people watching most of the time anyway and spending her money on stuff she doesn't need for herself. She is drawn to the sound of a piano - and one well played, at that. She stands and listens for a while, smiling at the boy who is so engrossed in the music he looks like he's one with his instrument. A thought crosses her mind - she'd talked to someone about a pianist recently...could this be?...nah. Suddenly feeling rather lonely, Kate takes the rest of the money she was planning on spending on stupid gifts for her colleagues and gives him a tip. The kid deserves it.

True to his word for once, Murdoc comes to the mall after school and sits on a a ledge at the edge of a fountain. He sees Kate come by and sees her tip Stu. It's nice of her, but Muds doesn't have the balls to go over and say anything. Not right now. Besides..he's watching Stu.
It doesn't even matter that Stu's playing Christmas music...Murdoc could watch him play anything once the boy is really and truly lost in his performance.
