The respirator tube has been removed from his throat, though he's still on oxygen. He sits alone in the room, wide-eyed and staring, giving him a permanently astonished look. His left pupil completely dilated and fixed open. Every now and then, he makes a soft sound in his throat.

Henry peeks his head in cautiously, just like last time. He doesn't want to disturb anyone if-

Hold on, are Stu's eyes open? That doesn't necessarily mean he's awake, does it? But he's sitting... Henry sets the CD player and small speakers he brought with him on the table next to the bed. He smiles weakly at those wide eyes. "Stu...hi. No one said you were- uh...I brought some music, though. JCS, because I'm dumb...but I know you like that one already, at least. And, uhm...just some other stuff. I thought maybe I could read to you too, if you want...the rabbit book is pretty good..." He finally forces himself to stop rambling and watches Stu, hoping for some sort of reaction.

He slowly moves to look at Henry. He doesn't turn his head, it's just just a movement of the eyes. His brow furrows very slightly and his fingers curl into his lap. Henry. He knows Henry...
He makes a soft, wavering sound and blinks.

Henry gasps a bit, despite himself, then grins widely. He never thought he'd be so happy to see someone blink. "Stu, you are awake...!" He steps a little closer to the bed and puts his hand lightly over the curled fingers for a couple seconds. "You're awake. Man, we didn't know how long it'd be..."

Stu's obviously still in really bad shape, but at least he's got a chance at getting better now. "Uhm...I dunno what I should do now. Should I read? I can read. I could tell you about school, but you're not missing much..." He looks for Watership Down among the stuff in Stu's room, finds it, and tries to find the page he left off of...although maybe he should start at the beginning.

He continues to watch Henry owlishly from the corner of his eyes. His brow furrows again and he makes a little "mhr" sound in agreement. He would like that.

[murdoc_is_god]

After leaving the nexus, Murdoc comes immediately to the hospital. He just stops at the apartment to get his drawing for Stu and his laptop.
He's gotten pretty used to the future phone and traveling like that. It doesn't freak him out as much now.

"Hey, they took that thing out of your mouth! Good. That looked pretty damn dumb."

His eyes widen and his fingers splay and curl. It's the closest thing to a smile that he can manage just yet.

"Mhhrr." Surely that can convey everything he wants to say to Muds.

[murdoc_is_god]

"Fuck... Yer...yer doing really well, Stu." His breathing just turns in to quiet, bizarre laughter and he smiles dumbly. There's no good response to how wonderful and still a bit sad this is.

The respirator tube is gone, though, and that has other benefits. Muds comes over and kisses Stu softly. "I'm really proud of you.."

He pulls in a little gasp, resulting in a couple of delicate little coughs. His eyes narrow for a moment before widening again. He lets out a soft sigh.

"Mmmhrr...nnh."
