Just how similar to someone's original work does something have to be to be considered plagiarism?

Vague, but it has to be "unrecognizable from the source" to not be plagiarism.

Is it by word or by style? I used Gendler's style of anthropomorphizing feelings or states on two other concepts- leather and dominance. (see Gendlerism tag). Is that plagiarism since it is sort of a knock off on her idea? I'm working on more and before I blog them other than to my friends I wanted to be certain.

Personal opinion is if someone takes something and inserts their own self into it, it's fine. It's like if you duplicated my house, but with different paint and furniture. It's not my house just because it started from the blue print of mine. Likewise it would be nice if you told people the structure was inspired by me, but I wouldn't expect it.
