Caroling and other memories.

Back in the day I used to go caroling with members of the church choir. I have few good memories of my time with the Southern Baptist church but they did have good music. I don't sing now since I seem to have lost my capacity for carrying a tune (and my son complains) but we used to make a joyful noise on a regular basis on Saturdays in the run up ( Read more... )

What a beautiful post. I'm sad that you have felt the need to turn away from organised religion, but I totally understand it. But it cheers me to read of the powerful good memories you have of singing together with your family and friends. I sang in my local Methodist choir as a teenager, and while we couldn't - quite - match the fervor of your Fa So La singers - we id our best.

Maybe it would help to remember, that thousands of years before the churchmen and politicos took over religion, Christ said, 'Where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I also."

The Hallelujah Chorus video brought tears to my eyes. It seems we have not a single video going viral this year but a concept. The first one I saw was posted on Chris Fowler's journal,
