Okay back again. There were two other issues that I wanted to bring up. One was the cresting opinion that students and faculty should be allowed to be armed. The second is about the shooter himself, preventative measures.
Yeah, I was thinking about the fear aspect of the gun control debate, too. Also stemming from that, the overreaction aspect that's come with so many recent events and the driving need to place the blame on someone so that vengeance can be enacted. The whole Mooninites thing, for example, was a huge misunderstanding, and both the people who were outraged that our city was so unsafe and the people who thought the government was cracking down on art were taking the situation far too seriously. There are terrorist groups bent on destroying American civilians, but neither obsessive over-surveillance or blind acceptance is going to make things better.
A friend-of-a-friend wrote that society is getting rapidly more violent and we need to start taking rights away until, apprantly, whatever went wrong in the little psychopath's head rights itself. For one thing, society is statistically getting rapidly less violent, and for another thing, sometimes people just go crazy. No amount of police state bullshit is going to stop brains from just
