In stories when the hero is woken by a heroine, it's the sound of her voice, or her soft touch on his brow, or her tears falling onto his closed eyes.
This moment had all those things, but chief among the reasons that could have brought Pip to wakefulness would probably have to be the duct tape being ripped off in a quick motion from over his mouth...
That probably hurt.
"MERDE, OW! That never stops hurting like fuck," Pip said.
"I'm sorry." said Pippi. "There isn't any other way to get it off."
"Believe me," I know. He did a little take and glared up at Pippi suspiciously. "Pippi? Or Adella?"
"Pippi." she said putting his eyepatch back on for him. "I don't know for how long though. We have to make this fast."
"Which Walter is in control?" Pip asked as he got to his feet and looked around at the trashed flat.
"The one you know," Walter said from his place at Nadia's side. "But she's right. I don't know for how long."
"Good," Pip said. He held out his hand. "Give me your wires now, while you still can. The evil you is dangerous enough without being able to tear apart a helicoptor."
Walter didn't hesitate before slipping his rings off and passing them to Pip. "Good thinking." He stroked Nadia's hair away from her face and got up to go see to the owner of the flat he and Pippi and Adella and the vampire had trashed while they fought themselves and each other for control.
"I'm sorry." Pippi hasn't moved from here she was sitting on the floor.
"She's not playing by any rules anymore. It's hard to get control."
"In that case, we need to do what we can while we still have the chance, and then I need to get out of here with Nadia."
"And Mr. Blackadder." Pippi waved her hand in the direction Walter had gone.
"Getting me out of this damnable tape is a good start," Edmund said after Walter pulled the tape off his mouth.
Actually, the first thing he said was mostly wordless with something foul thrown in at the end.
"And the WC."
"The loo's the least of your worries," Walter muttered as he tried to get the man out of his duct tape wrappings. "You're lucky you weren't breakfast."
"Leading to my next question," Pip said as he slipped the rings into one of his pockets. "I know what Pippi is, but what are you?"
"Really pissed off," Walter said while he finally just resorted to tearing the duct tape with his bare hands. "And a vampire."
"Should be easy enough to find out stuff about that, then. Sunlight, holy objects and stakes and whatever," Pip said as he walked across the room and hefted Nadia onto his back. "Pippi, got any ideas on what hurts a fairy?"
Pippi pointed at Walter.
"He's been out in the sun. But he really didn't like Nadia's silver necklace... And no. I don't know. Mr. Giles may. Or, I think Alfred once said something to me about fairies."
Pip nodded. "Alright, I'll go to Alfred first. He generally knows what to do." He glanced at Blackadder. "Coming, I assume? Can you walk?"
Edmund had been taped up for too long to give a damn about much of anything other than his mad dash to the toilet.
After that matter was dealt with, he came back out. "I think I'll need someone to put my head back into one piece, but yes, I can walk."
"Good," Pip said. "Because you're a sight heavier than Nadia." He turned to Walter and Pippi. "Is there anything else I should confiscate from you or that you think I should know? Because otherwise, I'm thinking I should leave while you both bind yourselves up."
Walter ran his fingers through his hair, pulling the ponytail loose. "Nadia has a broken arm, I heard her ribs crack if not break, probably a bad concussion. This... he's like the vampires at home - so use blessed silver, don't count on daylight helping, crosses and stakes are out, he's faster than I am, strong, submersion in seawater would destroy him, I think."
He winced and his eyes flared red for a moment before returning to grey-green. "I'll do what I can, but if you have to, don't hesitate to kill."
Pip nodded. He refrained from mentioning that he would've shot Walter back in the alley if he had gotten a chance.
God willing, Pippi and Walter would never need to know that.
"Got it. I'll try to be gentle with Nadia then."
"Even she doesn't know how she got here... It came as a surprise to her. And I don't think anybody else knows what's going on. Parker may suspect. But that's it. So you should probably warn our roommates that we're not ourselves."
"Neither does the vampire, but he's not someone else like Adella. He says he's me from 1999, but he doesn't know Fandom." Walter wished he could tell Pip more, but he couldn't tell what he didn't know.
"If Nadia... When Nadia wakes up, tell her I'm sorry." Just in case he didn't have a chance to say it himself.
Pip grinned. "Tell her your bloody self when we figure out how to fix you. Actually..." he gently placed Nadia on the couch. "Toss me the duct tape."
Pippi handed Pip the duct tape rather then tossing it.
"Good. Now both of you turn around. This probably won't stop either of you for very long, but it'll buy us some time and hopefully tick them off enough into doing something stupid."
Edmund held out his hand. "Let me help you with that. I have spent the past thirty-six hours listening to the two of them. They owe me this."
Pip nodded and handed Blackadder some tape. "Hands and feet. It'll make it really hard to get the leverage to tear them open."
Pippi waited where she was with her eyes on her shoes.
"My pleasure," Edmund said, a bit too happily. Those two had done things in his flat...
Dammit, he was the only one who should be doing that in his flat. Well not one - two - one was a bit... Duct tape!
He motioned Walter to turn around and began wrapping his wrists in duct tape.
Pip started to wrap up Pippi's wrist, then knelt down to wrap up Pippi's ankles.
"She really really really wants to hurt you."
"I'll keep that in mind," Pip said as he finished taping up Pippi's ankles. "I'm gonna lie you down on the floor now, so don't freak out. Why does she really, really, really want to hurt me?"
"She really hates the guy, the fairy who possessed you during the play... And, I guess she's just trying to grind me down. By hurting people who I . . . Care about." she said as Pip lowered her to the floor.
"Like you said, 'stupid, vindictive, ugly'."
Walter wiggled his fingers and told Blackadder to make the tape tighter. "Don't worry about my circulation. It's moot."
"Pip? Incase we don't get to talk again... You may want to ask Phoebe about something, she'll know what I'm talking about."
Pip nodded. "I will, don't worry." He slung Nadia up on his back. "Shall we, Mr. Blackadder?"
"Yes. Before these two hellions tape us up again."
"See ya." Pippi says somewhat less then cheerfully from her place on the floor.
Walter said nothing, opting to stare at the floor as Pip left with the others.
Pippi craned her head to try and catch sight of Walter behind her as the door closed.
"Walter?"
Walter found it particularly hard to look Pippi in the face. "Yes?"
"We're going to come out on top."
This was not a question.
"Yeah." Although his definition of "on top" might differ from hers.
