Yuletide is DONE! Submitted more or less on time (would have been on time, except that all the slackers like me were trying to upload all at once three minutes before deadline and we broke the upload page so then we had to wait until it was fixed and I sprained my ankle hopping up and down with anxiety and you think I'm kidding about that, but I'm ( Read more... )

What about books or movies for the cousins? I would suggest asking their parents for suggestions of what they like, but something like Bend It Like Beckham for the girl and True Lies for the boy might be a hit. Or 12-year-old girls are just beginning to need/want decent jewelry--a pretty little pendant or a good basic pair of earrings if she has pierced ears.

For grown-ups, I think tasty food is a good idea, unless they're, like, on a diet or something. But then things like dried fruit or gourmet pasta or something are still nice, 'cause everyone needs to eat something. (Of course, this is not helping me find a present for my husband, because I can't really get him food because then there's that whole "no, you don't have to share your present with me" thing, but I can't really get him something he likes and I don't, because that's pretty much pork products, which are not allowed in our house, and alcohol, about which I know nothing. Sigh.)

actually, teenagers often appreciate gift certificates because they can get exactly what they like. music or clothing for both, maybe a bookstore or comic store if they're readers. include them with some sort of cool (cheap) funky present that's just for fun, and so there's something to unwrap.
