Unexpected treats

That sounds lovely!

Just letting you know that J, Mlle. C and I will be staying home this weekend. We've decided the house is going on the market next week so we've got to get it prepped!

Bummer for me, but awesome for you! Have you found another property, or are you in the "just looking 'til we find the right thing" phase?

We're in the looking phase but we want to catch the Labor Day lookers by putting our house on now. The original plan had been to do so earlier this summer but I failed to take into account abdominal surgery recovery and not being able to figure out how to get Mlle. C in a sling on my back by myself! The house may still be cluttered and dusty when we get the house on the market! blah

Are you, by chance, anywhere near Jackson, MI, and therefore the Best Ice Cream Parlor In The Whole World?

Alas, no...I'm near Detroit this time. However, we have a facility over near Kalamazoo and I have to drive past Jackson every time I go there. Ergo, Must.Have.Details. Please, please! :-D

Oho! It is called The Parlor - in my youth it was the All-Star Dairy. They have what I consider the original monster sundae - the Dare-To-Be-Great, 21 enormous scoops of ice cream with little American flags on top.

They salt their nuts, which are amazing. The Turtle Sundae - caramel, fudge, LOADS of pecans - is my favorite. But really, their ice cream is great, the atmosphere is timeless, and a little happy nugget of my youth is preserved there in perpetuity.

(ah - evidently it is now a "Pecan Combo". Still delicious.)

Wow - they have a web page. That is so weird.

I don't think I'd be able to eat the entire Date-To-Be-Great all by myself, unfortunately. :-P However, you could absolutely sell me on the Turtle Sundae. I see also that their Peanut Butter Parfait would rock my world!

Are they open all year 'round? I probably won't be back to MI until November (but will eat ice cream anytime, to my detriment). :-)
