I have come to realize that it's been altogether too long since I've read a book purely for research purposes.  I'd also forgotten that I've never actually read Textiles & Clothing cover to cover, just the narrow wares section (which I've read numerous times).

This is why I missed a very important data point that is much earlier in the book.  I'll ( Read more... )

A yard is enough fabric for two hoods if you tetris it right.

Ha--I like the way that you use "tetris" to describe fabric manipulation. :-)

Do you typically line your hoods?

I haven't lined one so far, but you certainly can. The first one I made was a wool that was fulled on one side and shorn on the other, and I didn't want to cover that up. The one I'm just starting now is a tightly woven handkercheif weight linen, for sun protection on a hot day.
