Everything/Nothing

Oct 30, 2008 00:19

Today was one of those days where you wake up too late, have too much to do and end up feeling rushed through your day. You blink, and all of a sudden it's eleven thirty at night. Be forewarned, I apologize if this entry is neither coherent or interesting and I know I usually post about stories, experiences, or things of that ilk but today is going ( Read more... )

I was brought up in the countryside (and I mean countryside), hardly any people about and very peaceful and quit. I escaped as soon as I turned 18. I have lived in loads of different places but so far I haven't found a place I call home. Only time I'm truly happy is when I'm travelling. So I get it. Sometimes I miss my friends and my bed but it's a big world out there and I want to see all of it and hopefully one day I will find a place that makes me go "I'm home".

There are more people out there with wanderlust than I give them credit for. It's a great feeling to find home, and it makes leaving and coming back all the more special. :)

You two give me too much credit. I would love to write for National Geographic, or write a book, or anything! Perhaps I'll look into it in January when I have a little more time. Thank you for the wonderful idea Laurie, and you for the encouragement, everlastinggoo! (Which is a totally fun name..!)

I don't think you give yourself enough credit! Your writing truly is fantastic. You write in a way that makes everything seem completely real and leaves the reader feeling some sort of emotion, but yet it never seems false or forced. You've got a talent!

I can kind of imagine the feeling you’re describing - I’ve traveled alone a little bit, and that feeling of discovery is amazing…..but the long term nature of what you’re doing and the freedom in it blows me away. I’m hoping one day to have that freedom in a way that fits me, and because of that I’m always as happy to say hello to you and hear your stories as I am to say goodbye to you. You’re going away to completely immerse yourself in the thing you love most - it’s wonderful to see the “almost there!” look in your eyes before you leave. I’m so happy you’ve found this, sir.

And I'm so happy to have met you. Even though I don't see you nearly enough, the attitudes and experiences of you and your mister have given me a lot of hope about the world around us. If there's any people I can describe as being delightfully and passively (in the best way, like Devotion Aura!) inspiring, it's the two of you.

See you for brunch on Saturday, can't wait!

You're very welcome. ^__^ I'm just pleased that I get to be a small part of your life even though it may not seem a lot at this point. I have learned a long time ago that the smallest bit of support goes a long way and you certainly need it since you will be gone for the holidays which is always a difficult hurdle. I'm so pleased that Nikki is going to meet you there at least part of the way ( ... )

These small comments are truly something else. I've never been privy to such a warm, honest response to my writing. When I return in January, I am going to print this entire blog, comments and all up, and continue doing so, so that I may preserve these wonderful words everyone is writing.

I'm glad you understand the trials of travelling, friends and love. Some people just don't get it at all. Also- Thank you for the hugs.

I'm sure Nikki is grateful as well, that you left the kisses for her. ;) I know she reads, maybe one day she'll poke her nose in. ;)

I'm actually a little shy when it comes to meeting new people but that doesn't stop me from showing up now and again to offer sincere words and honest observations. ^__^

I think it would be great to hear from Nikki now and again. There is an old saying, "Behind every man is a good woman". I think you may have just found one in Nikki since it takes a lot of patience and time to understand the trials that you have to go through when you're away. She trusts you. ^__^ And that's very valuable.
