Adam smiled to himself as he turned the corner, heading for an alley where he could teleport back to the ship without being spotted. Simon had been exploring. Not that there was much to explore, but he felt more comfortable in the alleys, rather than the hotel or the convenience store. So he'd been wandering, keeping close to the ground in a sort of three-legged crawl-walk, one arm keeping the various bits of metal and occasional useful things he'd picked up held against his body, the other alternately a third foot or reaching out to inspect something else.

He heard a voice ahead, near the wall where he'd first appeared, and he hesitated before putting down his findings in a careful pile and approaching cautiously, sticking close to the wall, in the shadows.

Adam was at times a bit stubborn, and he was absolutely certain he could teleport out if he tried hard enough. So he kept trying.

An outside observer might see a boy in his late teens turn repeatedly into static before reappearing, looking more and more confused every time it happened.

...well, that was different.

Simon crept closer, curious, eventually coming out of the alley.

Of course, he didn't call out. He did accidentally kick a bit of metal as he moved, though.

Adam spun, unnerved enough by not being able to teleport out to be on edge.

"Hello?" He stepped toward the figure, his hands held out by his sides to show he wasn't holding anything. "I'm Adam. I seem to be . . . lost."
