It's not every day Marcus sees an animal come into Eden. In fact, this would be the first time. So while his gun remains leveled on the hyena a good distance away, he can't help but wonder if this is a good or bad sign.
"Never thought I'd see something like you here..."
It's probably also the first time he's seen a hyena pinch itself.
Having determined that she's sadly not dreaming, it's time to greet Marcus. With a snarl. "Oh, you were expecting maybe an antelope?"
She presses her hindquarters against the wall as she speaks, despite the false bravado: the exact use of the gun is lost on her, but it's still a big ol' blunt object, and the... what is he, a mutant rhino-monkey? ...the animal holding it looks pretty strong.
The big blunt object also has a small chainsaw in place of a bayonet, and while it's currently not running, the many sharp teeth aren't made to look friendly. Quite the opposite.
Marcus, not used to talking animals, falters.
"Holy shit," he rumbles, gun lowered a fraction, "I must be dreamin'."
Shenzi holds up a paw. "Woah. If anyone's dreaming, it's me," she says quickly -- though the shrinking likelihood of this is a little dismaying. Still, here and now, the hungry spikes of the weapon demand respect (or at least self-preservation).
She verbally backtracks a little, to hazard: "I come in peace?" When in doubt... blind them with anachronism!
Oh boy, we'd better be glad Hana and Loo are with their Daddy right now, because what we wouldn't want would be Mel to be all maternal and cornered when she sees an animal lose in the street.
She's agressive enough as it is, seeing as it's only days since she cleaned up bodies that had been eaten, so that's why her foot draws back and the axe in her belt is drawn out the second she sees it.
Shenzi finds that the axe is the most interesting part of this scenario, "interesting" here having the meaning of "Very Bad Indeed". Hmm. Well, if in doubt, don't admit to anything.
"I didn't do anything!" she says quickly. She'd back away, but, y'know, the wall.
Of course, lurks and Magog rutting well talk, so that doesn't help Shenzi's situation that much. It does mean she's downgraded to 'culprit and possible food source' to 'possible newcomer and potential threat', which sort of helps, right?
"What didn't you do?" Mel asks, lowering her weapon.

She doesn't think to talk to it.

Biiiiiiig nervous smile. Shenzi hadn't thought this far. "Uh... whatever you were angry about?" Smooth.
