Barbara is pissed. Part of it's at Mel because she burned the bodies before a thorough examination could be made, but the vast majority of it as at the chair.
It's been years since she felt truly handicapped, but by the time she got word that anything had been found and managed to get her chair down the street it was already over and the bodies burned.
She's self-aware enough to know that it's not Mel that's the problem, so she manages to suppress it. Most of it. Her voice is only slightly clipped, "You found the bodies?"
"So I'll ask around see who needs training partners," Mel says. "Also it's about time we drew up a rota like we had at the apartments. Who can do what, that kinda thing."
Mel has slings by her side, and there's a few awkward minutes while she negotiates both babies with laughter and cooing noises so that Loo is slung on her back and Hana nestled in her front. There's liberal use of her legs as a cradle and one-handed baby-slinging, but not once does she ask Barbara to take one.
They're hers.
"Be right back," she says with a smirk, and then she's scaling the side of the hotel, swinging ape-like from the fire escape rather than taking the stairs.
We can assume she found a Dad or an Uncle up there to sit, because soon she's back, using liberal use of gravity to get back.
And there's a notebook and pen tucked in her waistband.
Barbara doesn't offer, she can see in the way Mel stands that it's nothing personal. It's just... They're Mel's babies, and she doesn't know Barbara, really. She's not exactly trusting. I wonder if that's simple caution, or if there's something more to it.
The ascent and descent are both observed sharply. Enhanced strength, enhanced agility, probably enhanced speed too. She really might give Cass a run for her money.
"Organized," Barbara grins, "I like that. What have you got so far?"
"Me and Zuko, obviously," Mel says, sitting down again and turning a couple of pages. "He's... uh, recovering from some injuries, so right now he's sort of babysitter. And homeguard, should it come to that. Me, I need to be close to the action, so I'm patrolling
( ... )
"Ray I know, he'll be good at support. Robin and Batgirl can handle themselves on the front lines, and Robin's an excellent small-action tactician. He's got a pretty good technical background too. Spoiler's pretty fast, and not bad with thrown weapons, her hand to hand skills aren't bad either."
That's the list of people I know will follow my orders if it comes down to it.
She frowns, "What about people who are dependent on equipment? I spoke with Angela and when she runs out of ammo I don't think she's got much to fall back on. Who else is that going to be true for?"
They get noted down, and Mel remarks, "I'm not sure with what we're hearing is quite small-action, though."
"Really? Just her and possibly Jack. Plourr carries a gun more like the ones I had in Haddyn, but I think she can handle herself without it. I just think she'd rather not. Sokka's boomerang comes back, Zuko's self-fuelling, and I just don't let go of my sharp things.
"There's no gun store here though, so bullets are a commodity."
"Zuko and Sokka," Mel says. "They form a home guard with about a third of our fighters. Last line of defense. The ranged fighters. Non combatants stay with them. As I said, I can get you up there."
She's speaking from experience now. This is how it worked in the apartments.

"Think I'd better put these two to bed first," she says, "but I'll be down in a minute."

She frowns, "And other skills? It seems like we might have too many fighters and not enough builders. So to speak."
Reply
"Yeah, that was my worry. All we have are fighters."
