Life in a Republican State

Nov 07, 2007 18:07

Catherine (who is five today) came home from school/daycare and proudly informed us that... "Miss Sandy (her teacher) says Jesus lives in my heart".

I think a trip to the principals office is in order tomorrow. Anyone have the number of the ACLU?....... sigh.

If it's privately-owned daycare you may not have much recourse. They're generally not regulated as strictly as grades K through 12, since they're not mandatory. I don't know how carefully Texas regulates daycare, if at all. Since it's a State and not a federal matter, the national ACLU won't be much help (unless my Aunt Pearl is still there, but she's almost 85 at this point), but that's why there's a State branch, the American Civil Liberties Union of Texas. Good luck!

well I was only flippantly mentioning the ACLU. I'm not really that rabid that we're taking it that far! However we did have a quiet word with the director.
