Retirement has been a really unusual thing for my Dad. I've been getting a series of disturbing email pictures from my mom. His latest project, and I suppose I shouldn't mock it too much since I do benefit from it, has been his potato pit. Oh parents trying to retire... they should really have a support group. My Dad is our family comparison shopper, if you are considering buying any electronics just email him and within 4 hours you will have a comprehensive list of options. I think he was a little offended that Joe bought me a GPS for my birthday without consulting him.

I think my Dad would be jealous of your Dad's potato pit, it sounds pretty awesome! :)

I think i'm less and less enamored with holidays as the years go by. I mean, sure, a time to party...but the tedium of decorating and the annoyance of holiday advertisements (and xmas music)just makes it feel a bit shallow. I can't buy into it.
Wow...mixing dough? at least it's something else to do... I dunno about you, but I like doing a variety of things at a job so I don't get bored.

I agree, it's nice to have something new to do. The only catch is that all the different tasks start at different times. So I find that when they mix it up too much I get a little messed up. And have no clue what is going on with my schedule anymore!
