At one point I had considered using Mechanical Turk to generate a little extra spending money, but wasn't sure if the income would be worth the time/energy. Are you finding it to be a good source of additional income?

ABSOLUTELY. I've qualified for a set of writing & editing tasks that are fairly lucrative -- for example, you write a 250-word article on a set topic and earn $5, or edit an article and earn $3 -- and you can do as many as are available (and that you can write about intelligently, and using their style guide, etc.) ;)
Those writing/editing tasks usually only post on weekdays. Most of the time, I'm transcribing business cards into form fields (that ends up being about a nickel a card, but I'm a speedy typist). There have been occasional translation tasks that I enjoy doing, too.
There are also surveys -- most of the time, a survey on MTurk will be about current events or personality-related issues, where surveys on QuickRewards are generally more about products or movies. (Mturk surveys are more likely to accept you, regardless of your demographics; QR surveys can boot you out a few questions in, if you aren't in the demographic group they're looking for, and you don't get any credit for what you're booted out of, of course.) Thanks! I may check it out - I can always use a bit of extra money to support my hobbies. ;-)

Definitely! It doesn't cost anything to sign up and check it out. (You can't transfer money to your bank account until you have a balance of at least $10, but once you have a balance of at least $1, you can use it on Amazon.com purchases.)
