Happy birthday to benicekYour job always has its risks and life-and-death situations, but in this pandemic age we live in, the risks and the stakes are so much higher. So wishing you good health seems kind of inadequate, but I wish it nonetheless. And all the best to your family. May there be more light in the darkness

Many thanks! I’ve had a very easy pandemic so far. The surge has been in London and the care homes, not here in affluent Sussex. The few critical covid cases we’ve had have been mostly our Filipino colleagues and their relatives. If there has been any political victory for us it has been the recent promise to abolish the vindictive NHS visa surcharge that they have to pay every year, a tax which defied logic and only pandered to racist voters.

Now now - I did go back and read some of your posts I missed before I made this post, and while you guys have it easier than your colleagues in say, London, you obviously had some challenges. And getting the visa surcharge repealed is, indeed, pretty good
