Remember how back in January-March of 2017, Niles Bugle paid me
months late for my work. And how, by the middle of March, things seem to have sorted out.
Well, things didn't exactly stay that way.
(
It wasn't too bad at first. But then, things got worse )

Don't know if I can do anything to help you, but if you think I'd be any help, I'll most definitely try.
Good to know you're getting work at the Chronicle. Their publisher, Rick Hibbert, is one of my old editors. He, I and a couple of other old-timers still get together for dinner and friendship a few times a year. He's good people.

Indeed. I know they've been trying to hire a new advertising person since February, and I know that back in January, my now-former editor asked if I would be willing to freelance for other Bugle newspapers. (At the time, I was still trying to play nice, so I politely declined instead of writing "oh, so I can get not paid some more). I also know that the other newspapers are bigger and have more ads, but the papers seem to be shrinking across the board (the others were just slower than the Niles Bugle). And I also couldn't help but notice that the last few issues of Niles Bugle had more ads for local businesses as opposed to regional and stuff from the other papers' coverage areas. And I can't can't help but wonder how much its financial issues have to do with the papers losing money and how much of it had to do with its corporate parent cutting the budget (which, as you may recall, is why I and several other people lost our staff positions ( ... )

I suspect that's the driving force.
I'll keep my fingers crossed that you get the final three checks quickly.
