My 11 years on Livejournal

I was originally going to write this on June 8, 2015 - the 10-year anniversary of this account's creation. But then, I was busy. And then, I got fired/blacklisted from Pioneer Press/Tribune, and I didn't really feel like doing much of anything except trying to find a way to make money. By the time things got a bit more stable, a few months passed, ( Read more... )

Glad you're still here! It's amazing how much life a person can pack into 11 years!

It is. And you've been on LJ for 16 years, so you'd really know.

I'm glad I got to "know" you here on LJ, and it's such a relief to be able to talk Chicago journalism (or should that be "journalism"?) with you. And to be able to enjoy fandom as well as the wonderful world of reporting? That's fantastic!

And I'll echo andrewducker - it's amazing how much life a person can pack into 11 years! (I've been on LJ around 9.5-10 years, and even though I now post from Dreamwidth, this is a very, very special place for me.)

Is there a pun I'm not getting?

But that aside - it really is amazing bit of serendipity. To be able to find an active Chicagoan on LJ (well, dreamwidth. Details, details) is amazing. To find a fellow journalist is more amazing still.

Absolutely.

And that's just the highlights. There are so many things I glossed over and skipped past because narrative flow.

Not really; I just put snicker quotes around journalism, because it seems as if, in this town, too much of the so-called journalism (whether live media or print) tends to generate snickers rather than respect *coughferrocough*

And I agree, when you try to write about more than a decade of life in an urban setting, you're going to be forced to leave things out.
