A few days ago, the judge ruled against pop singer Kesha (real name - Kesha Rose Sebert) in her long-running legal effort to get out of her contract with record producer Lukasz "Dr. Luke" Sebastian Gottwald. That's kind of sad; one possible problem is that too many people don't care, if the artist is below a certain tipping point of fame, and Kesha, while she's a-a-a-l-m-o-s-t there ...

... isn't.

I don't know... It's true that she hasn't released any songs in years, and that's bound to diminish her pop cultural relevance, but when the decision on the lawsuit came down, the outcry on Facebook and Twitter was pretty loud.

A friend of mine suggested that the turnout was tepid because it was a Friday night on a college campus, and not a lot of college students hang out on campus on a Friday night. I know I didn't when I attended UIC, and neither did most people I know. But I still wonder if Kesha actually showing up would've overcome the intertia.

Ultimately, it's probably a sad mix of all those things, because yes, having her there would have helped.
