At this point, I got a sizable backlog of entries. I decided that, for trip-related posts, the best approach is to write them in chronological order and (eventually) catch up to the presentish. Nice post. I haven't been to Benton-Harbor yet. We've been discovering mostly the UP (Yupee) aka the Upper Peninsula. (If you love nature and want some people, you go east of the Mackinac Straits; if you prefer more nature and fewer people - west of the Straits.)

How are you liking Michigan? :)

Actually, about two years ago, I looked through a tourist guide of Upper Peninsula, and I was intrigued enough to fill out a form to get guides for some of the individual towns. It's definitely something that I want to explore somewhere down the line, but for now, I run into the same problem as I usually do with destinations along Pere Marquette - the transit options are such that I pretty much have to get a hotel room. And I don't have quite enough disposable income to do that sort of thing lightly.

I keep meaning to put together my "Final thoughts" post, but I keep getting distracted by work and other stuff. In short, what I saw in St. Joseph and Benton Harbor definitely made me interested enough to explore it more. The question is how, and when. It's a once-a-year sort of thing by Amtrak. There is an Indian Trails bus, but it drops you off on the edge of town, and from what I understand, I have to call ahead if I want the local bus to stop by the Greyhound/Indian Trails station. So we'll see.
