After the Tenth Chemo: Slightly more throwing up, way more sleeping

This chemo cycle didn't start out well

Right before chemo, I wound up phantom-vomiting. And It wasn't one of the light vomits - oh no. It was a a lot of spit and yellow stuff that looked a lot like anti-nausea meds. Except time I took them was two weeks ago - shouldn't they have been out of my system by now?

I didn't throw up during the chemo itself, but I wound up throwing up in the way out (I was able to take it to the restroom by the hospital door). This time, I was pretty sure the yellow stuff was anti-nausea meds - I recognized the smell. Except I think that's the stuff that I got through the IV rather than anything that may or may not have been left over from two weeks ago.

Unlike last time, my mom was in town this Friday, so we went for lunch. And before lunch, I would up phantom-vomiting yet again. A lot.

I tried to limit my portions for lunch (which was a shame - food was appetizing). While the stomach was very unsettled, the food wound up staying down.

And so far, I haven't thrown up since.

On the other hand, I wound up sleeping. A lot. On Friday, that was to be expected. But on Saturday, I managed to stay awake during the first half of the day, but I could barely keep my eyes closed. And, on Sunday, I didn't really wake up until 11:30 AM.

Now, that wasn't too bad, since other side-effects have been mild. Even the nausea. But on the other hand, it made part of me even more annoyed, since i have a busy week ahead as far as journalism stuff. I'm only going to have so much time to blog and my weekend was getting away from me, damn it.

Oy.

Speaking of side-effects - one of the chemo side-effects I haven't quite touched on here is that this stuff slows down your body's healing abilities. Cuts, bruises and scrapes that would be gone within a day or two take twice, if not three times as long to heal.

A day before chemo, I wound up tripping as I ran to the 'L' train and scraping my knee and hands. Normally, this wouldn't be too bad, but this stuff has only now stopped hurting. And the skin hasn't healed.

I can't help but think of mistborn's Elantis. Of course, in Elantis, the corrupted immortals' wounds never healed, and thank God for that... but it was hard not to think of Raoden a bit as I wake up for the third day with the scrape on my knee not healing.

Well, on the bright side, I got ten chemo sessions down, only two more sessions to go.

The next one is going to be one day after Thanksgiving.

Fuck cancer.
