I love this. Its unique and fun to read and a great use of the prompt. I love the title too, followed by the summary, because really that is how I read it, as two sets of eyes. Great job!

"Part of him was inordinately pleased, too, to be winning a fictional card game against fictional people, effectively beating his own brain."

Hehe, this is *so* Sam! :)

Loved the whole fic. It was nice to hear the story from two points of view. Well done. :)

I like the idea that Sam finds himself analysing everything, even things that should just cheer him up.

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!

Bloody well did. &hearts &hearts &hearts

Oh this is really, really good. I love the mucking around with perspective that comes from Gene and Sam's completely different experiences. And I do like the way you wrote their blind spots as well. Gene and Sam: together, they're almost a well-rounded person :D

SUCH IS THEIR DYSFUNCTIONAL APPEAL. (lol "almost")

Anyway, I'm really glad you enjoyed it, and thank you! :DDD

Oh, Maddie! ♥ ♥ ♥

This is wonderful. TO be perfectly honest on the prompt it was something I just pulled out of my arse at the last minute - so the fact that you've taken it and turned it into some so wonderful is just brilliant.

I love your humour through this - and the difference been narrative styles for Gene and Sam is genius, as is the concept of bouncing them back and forth (yay! for slightly breaking the fourth wall!).

I love the way Gene describes Ray vs. the way Sam describes Ray.

I love that Gene is determined to make Sam happy.

I love the fic and I love you, Maddie! ♥

lol well thank god. I was frantically writing this, all, 'jesus, I really hope this person is not desperately hoping for the in-depth srs bzns fic I totally cannot provide for them'.

So hoorah! :DDD I am really really glad you liked it, and it is lovely to finally know who I was writing for, and I can also be relieved that it is someone who presumably doesn't mind that this accidentally ended up being sort of as much about Sam as it is about Gene, because I was worried that I might have a Sam-hater who would hate me for his UNASKED-FOR INCLUSION (ok this was relatively unlikely I admit) and I have very much lost where this sentence was going, OH YES, Ray, I am glad this came through, because I think that Gene and Sam see Ray through two very different pairs of eyes, and both of them are guilty of ignoring and imagining things respectively.

late-night comment is clearly written way too late at night aksjhlkj

Gene may be my favourite but I love Sam as well so, yes, I am perfectly happy to have this intrusion. Besides! What is Gene without Sam? If you think about it...

It truly wins, truly. And you win for writing it.
