Open Call: Vid Suggestions!

Jul 09, 2007 21:14

Alright folks, time to get started!

Before we can get you signed up for fandoms, we have to know what fandoms we're using. And that means we need VIDS. Your vids, your friend's vids, your mom's vids, your dog's vids, LOTS OF VIDS.

The specific criteria are actually quite few. Please, please read these before submitting suggestions.

1) There must be a permanent link available NOW. A standing website (even YouTube or iMeem is fine), not a temporary storage site (YouSendIt, etc). If the vid is offline, only available on VHS/DVD, or set to premiere at VVC, we can't use it. Keep in mind we'll be forwarding the link to Strangers (vid-watchers) next week.

2) They must be single-fandom only. NO multi-fandom vids. Most meta vids are not suited to this project, but there will always be exceptions.

3) The vid should be between 2-7 minutes long. We'll seriously consider vidlets if that's all that's out there, but we want to give the Strangers plenty of material to work with. We also don't want to overwhelm newbies to vid-watching with really long vids (much as I'd love to make everyone and their mother watch "Scooby Road," SIGH.)

4) An email address for the vidder should be readily available.

That's it! Note we are not specifying what fandoms we want. Give us EVERYTHING. The rarer, the better. Cruise YouTube and see what you can dig up. Reach to the far corners of the internet and bring us hidden treasures. Mainstream shows are fine, but the more unfamiliar the fandom, the more people will be participating. Movie fandoms and anime are also acceptable! Hell, we don't even ask that the vid be "good" (whatever your definition of "good" is). We just want them!

Also note that we're not setting requirements on what kind of vids we're looking for. Gen, slash, angst, shipper, humor, character study, whatever! We're open to anything. Our main goal is to whittle the list down to 1-3 vids that give the Strangers plenty of meat to chew on. This will probably be some kind of balance between different kinds of vids. Don't be afraid to suggest a vid just because you think we won't use it. Try us! You've got nothing to lose by running an idea by us. We honestly have no idea what we're going to use yet. We're new to this, too. And hey, if we did know, we wouldn't be asking you for ideas ;-)

Even if you've only ever made (or seen) one vid, send it over! We won't use more than 2 vids by any one vidder (as supply allows), so hopefully as many vidders as possible will get exposure.

Here's how you submit a suggestion:

Email strangefandom @ gmail dot com with subject line: vid suggestion. Don't leave your recs in a comment here or email them to the mods' personal accounts. The body should include the following information--

Fandom:
Title:
Link:
Vidder:
Vidder's Email:

You can send one email with multiple suggestions (in fact, we encourage that!), just please leave 2 lines of space between entries. Please have entries submitted as soon as possible, no later than Sunday July 15th. Please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions about any part of the project!

Okay, people, show us what you got!
