If you've got both of the files open in Photoshop just drag one on top of the other (Or copy all and paste onto the other whichever), then you can merrily erase or change opacities as you wish.

That's what I was trying to do, but I suspect I was doing something wrong. (Don't ask me how I can get copy-and-pasting wrong.) It should work if they're both just .jpg files, eh?

Try double clicking on one. It should open a box that lets you make jpg1 a layer. Then you should definitely be able to copy paste into jpg2.
