Ah, good point about the direction of the novels - hadn't though of that. But I agree - I think it's lots of fun. I could have done with MOAR TOM, but apart from that, good effort.

Thanks, glad you enjoy them. Dimensions is a bit weird, but generally I think it's a case of so bad it's good for me.

I've still got the 3D glasses that came with the Radio Times (which I also have) for Dimensions in Time. I'm b@ggered if I can remember which videotape I stuck it on though.

When Five Doctors was on originally, it was a fanboy's dream come true, but with hindsight the plot is full of holes and the acting is patchy and unintentionally funny at times ("No. Not the Mind Probe" for example). Its still good to watch though to see everyone together.

Curse is one of Pertwee's better stories and still stands up well today. Apparently, its supposed to be inspired by the UK deliberating on whether to join the Common Market back in the 70s..

Ah, so they did come with the Radio Times! I thought they had, but wasn't sure if it was a false memory or not. As I remember, they did actually add quite a lot to the experience.

Yep- thet were polarising glasses rather than the usual red/ green ones and they made a lot of difference to how you saw it onscreen. You're welcome to borrow them if you like?

I'll have to dig out the the vid now!

Yeah, would love to borrow them sometime. The version I have of it is not brilliant quality - same as the Shada recording I gave to you. But I think it's good enough that the 3D would still work.

You have learnt well, my young Padawan.

One thing that you don't comment on, perhaps because you don't have the context (certainly I didn't when I first saw it as a nine-year old), is the really radical portrayal of the Ice Warriors. They were Bad Guys - they'd tried to take over the world twice in Patrick Troughton's time. And then, suddenly they turn up as the good guys, despite the Doctor's suspicions. I don't know of anything that radical ever having been done with a Who monster either before or since - it's a bit like if they'd used Sontarans instead of the Judoon in 'Smith and Jones'.

Yeah - I do know about the Ice Warriors, but there wasn't much point in me saying anything about it, as at the moment I only know it by report, not having seen (as far as I can remember) any of their other stories. I suppose that comes back to the relationships between this story and Britain's prospective membership of the EEC, since that did precisely involve Britain joining a community which included former enemies. In which case it's a very clever touch from the story-writers.
