Brief check-in

Sep 03, 2004 12:06

I have arrived safely in Belfast, and found a flat so quickly that I didn't have to stay in the hall of residence even for one night after all! Even the estate agents agreed it was probably their quickest ever time from a viewing to handing over the keys: saw the place at about 2:30, had the keys in my hand by 5, and had all my stuff in there by 7 ( Read more... )

Thanks! Would you like to get together for coffee or lunch early next week? I was going to ask you if you wanted to get lunch together on Monday, but I'm afraid a colleague in my new department has already booked me for Monday lucnhtime. But any other day is free for lunch, and coffee is good at any time of course.

My office is in 4, University Square by the way, if you ever want to drop in on me during working hours. I do have a phone there, but can't remember its number: I'll be posting full contact details on LJ once I'm not having to use net cafes any more (as I am now).

And the flat is in Cussick St., which is a cul-de-sac between Eglantine Rd and Wellington Park off the Lisburn Rd. It's really nice, and actually quite a lot like my place in Oxford.

Yeah that sounds good :) How about Wednesday at 12.30 for lunch? Would you prefer pub or coffee shop type place? If there's anywhere in particular you fancy that's fine with me.
Do you mean Eglantine Avenue (which is where I used to live)? I can't think of an Eglantine Road. I'm trying to think of it - must be pretty close to where we used to be :)
Look forward to seeing you soon - you still have my mobile number I presume so you can always text/phone re. Wed.

Still in cafe at the mo! Yes, I do mean Eglantine Ave (I couldn't think what type of road it was, so guessed!).

12:30 on Weds sounds great. Don't really mind what kind of place: I'm happy for you to choose, as I'm sure you know the best options.

Yup, I do still have your mobile no., so we can iron out details that way.

The shennanegans should be quite fun, indeed! I think it's more or less as I said yesterday; i.e. Pub, Curry, Pub. We like to keep things nice and simple over here! :)

I am so glad that you did not have to smoosh your many boxes and precious books into a tiny room for long long time! You will have to send accurate description of new place! Although tis a pity you did not get the wing of the stately home :-)!!

It'll be soon! I have a few things to sort out there first, as the flat wasn't really 100% ready for a person to move in when I did. The landlords didn't quite expect my lightning-fast move in time, so I don't have e.g. a dining table yet. But it should all be sorted out fairly soon, and then of course there will be a party! And no reason why people such as yourself who don't live here shouldn't come if you want. There are frequent cheap flights from at least one of the London airports (can't remember which one right now).
