Waking with a song in my ears

Well, I didn't expect to be woken by the soaring, silvery tones of Alessandro Moreschi this morning. But I was, thanks to a feature on the 'Handel and the Castrati' exhibition which opens tomorrow at Handel's house in London. wow that really explains some of my wierd dreams. I dozed back off to sleep listening to the radio. I was quite scared by them.

Haha! Yes - the interview did include as graphic a description of the process of castration as they felt would be appropriate while people were still eating their eggs and bacon... I wouldn't like to have a dream which involved that!

Yes, and without even an apology to the nation for its cornflake-spattered carpets! I know there is no "watershed" for radio, but... It's rare to feel relief, as I did today, on hearing the words "And now it's time for Thought for the Day".

Indeed! Heaven knows what Clapton would have said if he'd not been warned to tone it down for the sake of breakfast-eaters...
