I love Stephen Fry. I don't watch QI now because I watch Spoons on Channel 4 at the same time (and have a very basic VCR/TV combo and no digital), but remember getting similarly excited when he once went on an extended excursus about the derivation and usage of the Greek word tmesis.

Oh, I know. And his constant references to Pliny the Younger.

He was on 'Friday night with Jonathan Ross' after QI, as well, being very intelligent about the English language and poetry and so forth.
