i watched both version of The Ring (English and Japanese) - they are pretty scary. I don't have a favorite scary movie. It's not a genre that I like to watch, even though I'm not one who gets scared easily either.
It creeps the hell out of me too. Mainly because I am always afraid of clowns (even when I was still a little girl) and that movie just adds my anxiety with clowns.
Hmmm, oh, wait, favorite scary movie ... The Shining!! Jack Nicholson is one scary guy by himself :)
OMGosh! I totally agree Nicholson is one scary mo-fo! I have never seen The Shining from beginning to end. So I guess I have to tune it to that someday. Also never saw The Exorcist!
And thank you for not making me feel crazy about the movies that scare me. Lol. People here (with the exception of my sisters) are always giving me weird looks when I tell them these are the movies that scare me. They expect me to be scared of Jason or Krueger but I'm not. Sorry, my imagination is scarier than any writers' and those two movies seriously mess with my imagination.
Oh the Grudge also creeps me out. Darn those Japanese influenced films :) That stupid creaking/croaking noise made at the back of the throat had me on edge for days. My sisters would screw with me by doing it whenever I was around them. Jerks. Lol.
The Shining is more "psychological" scary, that scary scary, if you know what I mean. As for The Exorcist and Poltergeist, both don't scare me. In fact, I thought they are silly *g*. The Omen, on the other hand, is quite scary because of Damien. That kid is creepy!
Yeah, Japanese horrors are pretty scary. My sister says that The Eyes Japanese version is way scarier than both The Grudge or The Ring
oh my goodness I think the scariest thing I've seen in my life is Poltergeist, so you can imagine how many actual scary movies I've seen (none lol!). I watched 20 minutos of The Exorcist and I had nightmares for 6 months. I kid you not. I can't watch horror movies, they just scare me WAY too much lol! Is The Ring the one where if they watch a videotape they die a week later? WHY DO THEY KEEP WATCHING THE TAPE INSTEAD OF BURNING IT THEN? Loooool!
You don't do scary films? I like to scare myself... as long as I have someone to keep me company at night if I can't sleep. Lol. But now a days they don't make 'em like they used to so...
But I've never actually seen Poltergeist *makes note to rent it*
I watched 20 minutos of The Exorcist and I had nightmares for 6 months. I kid you not. Aw. As I was telling Ami above I've never really seen that movie either. Only clips in reference to the most famous scene (with the head spinning around and the projectile vomiting).
Yup that's The Ring. WHY DO THEY KEEP WATCHING THE TAPE INSTEAD OF BURNING IT THEN? Beats the heck out of me! That's what I'd do, but once you've seen it I think the thing to do is get someone else to watch it so that you won't die. It's just such a horrid story, freaks me out! It's literally the epitome of "curiosity killed the cat!"
I am thinking now if I ever watched 'The Evil Dead'. I used to be really big into horror movies when I was younger; my friends and me would have actual horror movies where we would have sleepovers and watch two or three horror movies in one night. But I can't remember if I watched that one. I do remember 'The Ring' though. I am not sure if I would pick that one as the movie that scared me the most, but my it was pretty scary indeed. With the hair and everything. So I can so understand that's your pick ;)
And now I wish I could go watch a horror movie, lol.
