So I decided to do Yuletide

Nov 06, 2009 01:22

I got caught up in the excitement of it all and signed up for Yuletide. I'm amazed at the number of fandoms some people feel confident enough to offer. Two of my offers are a stretch for me, so I'll have to rely on the kindness of my friends to make sure I keep the guys in character.

requests and offers )

writing, psmith, jooster, hot fuzz, verbotene liebe, yuletide, baffles, fan fiction

Yay, you did it! :) I'm not super confident in all my offers, but I guess this will force me to get over my apprehension. I hope.

My offers also look suspiciously like my requests! ;)

That's a good way to look at it. Yuletide will give us a chance to stretch our writing wings. I'm actually looking forward to it.

Congratulations and lots of best wishes!

I'm not embarrassed to admit that I still like Trixie Belden. :) You're referring to the mystery books, right?

Trixe Belden mysteries!!! I read almost all of them. I have many of them tucked neatly away in my attic! I once read some naughty fanfic and it about knocked my head off. Those squeaky clean teens got up to a lot more than I thought.

And every now and then, I'll pull them out and reread. Sigh. I'm glad to meet another fan. I never have before.

I've loved the Belden mysteries for many years now. I've read most of them but not all. I've never read fanfic concerning them but then I rarely read any fanfic that is not slash.

I've never met another fan before, either. They're great books.

What years do the Raffles' stories take place in?

According to "The Collected Raffles," the stories were written from 1899 to 1909. The settings were contemporary for the time. Does that help? On the left of my LJ page there's a link under the tag list for the Annotated Raffles. Lots of stuff in there.

Thanks! I was curious because while I was doing research tonight, I discovered this about the London Zoo: "ZSL was established by Sir Stamford Raffles in 1826..." and it reminded me of another Raffles. :)

Just went to Annotated page. Lots of info. there. Thanks for sharing! Raffles seem to have a bit of mystery about him.

I'm working on a chronology for the Annotated AJR. I've worked it out that Bunny and Raffles probably met up again on the Ides of March 1891, and Raffles went out for a swim in June/July 1895 (which rather messes up "A Bad Night," but that'll all be in the chronology). They got back together again May 11, 1897, and Raffles was killed in the spring of 1900.

Hope that helps!

I should have the chronology done sometime this week-end. I'll post on crimeandcricket as well as my Twitter when I've got it up on the site.

Good lord, I hope you're right. Maybe next year I can stretch a little bit more.

Yours was a great Santa letter. Flexible and right to the point.
