The same guy!

Sep 16, 2011 21:42

We've watched "Hot Fuzz" and the Harry Potter movies a million times, and we only just realized Mr. Webber (old man with all the guns) and Argus Filch are the same person.

What fun to still discover things in our favorite movies!

This probably qualifies as the lamest post I've ever made.

hot fuzz, hilarious bits, harry potter

I didn't even realize Martin Freeman was in Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead until after I saw Sherlock.

See, now I don't remember Martin's role in Shaun.

It's fun finding how all these people overlap.

When they're heading to the Winchester, after they have to abandon the car, and they run into Yvonne and company. He's her boyfriend.

I LOVE YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS POST I HAVE TO CAPSLOCK IT <3

I did notice both that and that Martin Freeman was in Hitchhiker, Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and Ali G as I saw them all, but according to my loved ones I like to sort and order people into categories and labels in my head, so that's probably why. For the record, Martin Freeman's sorted into 'Very Cute AND Very Talented', ordered as 'Will check out work regardless of other things' and labelled 'shorter than me but very, very nommy. Also good for Catholic Schoolboy fantasies'.

I'll have to look for Martin in Hitchiker and Ali G. He was also in the first episode of Black Books in which he played the doctor who found "The Little Book of Calm" inside Manny's stomach. Very funny little role.

Catholic Schoolboy fantasies - yes, I can see it.

Martin's Arthur Dent is adorable and very snuggly, and along with Stephen Fry as the Guide made The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy that much better for me. I've not seen Ali G Indahouse in ages, but Martin's Ricky C with the yellow clothes and the overalls? SO CUTE. sadynax made this art of Martin as Ricky C, LOOK HOW CUTE: http://29.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lil1psez0A1qc779co1_500.png

And I can't help it, any man who grew up both British and Catholic trigger Naughty Catholic Schoolboy fantasies in my brain's sexy place. Public Schoolboys do the same (why yes, Mr. Weaving, I am looking at you), but that's just money, not way of thinking.

I love the icon!

That sounds like a fun realization moment.

I once asked a friend to make me a Sirius Black icon to use for Harry Potter posts or for anything else that required a semi-serious icon. I have to say she's brilliant.

It was fun! And really, the roles were sort of similar, so I don't know why we didn't see it right away.

I love your new background, it's beautiful.

Have you watched them both recently? Maybe it was just more at the forefront of your brain.

My kids have been doing a Potter rewatch and reread, so I think that's how we figured it out. I haven't watched any Potter since the last part of the 7th movie came out, but kids just saw one the other day.

Edit: I'm glad you like the layout. The other one seemed to be a bit loud all of a sudden. This one is much more soothing!

Its always fun to find some things in movies ;D

Besides, the post can't be lame if it's about David Bradley. I like him! :D

I'm going to have to look up some other movies he's been in. I'm sure he's quite a famous character actor.

Yes, he is. And I really enjoy most of his roles! :D A couple of my favourites of his besides HF and HP are "Exorcist: The Beginning" (not bog but brilliant :D), "Our Mutual Friend", "The King Is Alive"... I wish he was starring in more productions!

That's okay. We've watched Shallow Hal and Big Eden a million times, and we just noticed last night that (Hal's perception of) the nasty nurse who's after Hal's friend for his money is Nan Martin, who also played the nosy, agressively match-making Widow Thayer in Big Eden.

The kids marvel at how many British actors they see starring together in various TV shows and movies. I reminded them that's it a small island with a lot less competition.
