Happy Birthday, Little Bear!

I am stunned. Last night at work at Borders I was looking at my "action list," and I believe now I probably misread "The Cat in the Hat" 50th anniversary edition and "Little Bear" as "Little Bear" 50th anniversary edition. But it's true. "Little Bear" is 50 years old!

i have to admit that i am one of the people who has never heard of this book. but i love maurice sendak so will be looking this up asap!

when did the book first come out? i'm 25, don't know where i would fall on the timeline . . .

I loved Little Bear when I was a kid. I think I still actually have the books somewhere.

I loved the illustrations of Little Bear, especially Mother Bear and Emily's clothes. It looked so...old-fashioned. I was a vintage-loving gal even as a kid.

What era do you think they come from? The early 1900s/late 1800s?
