I still exist

I got a pro-death penalty campaign letter this morning, which I thought was fabulous as I'm quite anti-death penalty. So, now have a list of people who I should really question voting for. I'm just *headdesking* a little that the "Republican Majority in the State Senate" thought it made sense to send letters to everyone who voted last year, not ( Read more... )

Oh, I haven't ordered HP either. I think I might just buy it from Borders or something.

Same. Figure I'll throw in an amazon order or just pick it up at B&N. Really it'd be perfect airplane reading, but then I'd have to wait 'til August 5th to read it, and that's probably too many days.

I'm currently interning at WOR Radio. I actually wrote a commercial that was produced and aired, and this was just my first week. I'm kind of in shock. Happy shock. :)

What's the station number? Congrats on the commercial!

Chana

I didn't order DH too. As for OotP probably I will go to on July 12th. Maybe...

It is curious that letter you received, taking into account that you are anti-death penalty. As I said some time ago in a previous post, death penalty is an issue that always makes me wonder, when I think about USA. I mean, a country that is so proud of the way it protect human rights maybe should consider revising their policy on the subject.

I don't know. Death Penaly is something I am clearly against. I hope someday US will abolish executions

Hugs!

Well, we are getting better. It's only legal in some states, and states are putting it on hold all the time, and we very rarely actually go through with it.

Nothing really new here. I'll probably just pick the book up from a bookstore or maybe got to a release with slytherincess if she's planning on doing that.

That programming language sounds like a real pain. Do have a link to some exapmles or documentation? I'm curious, actually.

I wonder how effective random political letter spam is. I suppose like any spam it's got to have some return rate but you'd think in the case of mail they'd find a better use for the money involved.

I'm not sure I'm against the death penalty in principle though I definitely am in practice, especially as implemented in this country. Actually I probably am against in in principle, too, since it seems akin to state sanctioned murder and, basically, I don't think the government should do anything that you wouldn't put up with from a neighbor.

Here's the homepage, have fun: http://www.neurobs.com/

*shrugs* I'm just not crazy about how it's implemented, nor do I think it's effective, so yeah, not into supporting it.

Thanks. You had to install Ubuntu or Kubuntu on one of your systems, right? Are schools moving towards Linux these days or was this more of a rarity for a class?

I had to install Kubuntu on a desktop, and it was for my lab. Python (the langauge we're coding in) and various imaging libraries (OpenCV and GDAL at the moment) tend to run better on Linux, and installing/running/testing works better on Linux, and so do a lot of Python IDE's (there are about two for windows, one of which is actually an eclipse plug in and doesn't work so well) and it just makes it easier, assuming I can work it.

I accidentally made my Linux partition my primary one, so that's what my comp is now booting into by default, and I've gotta switch that, or at least install my printer on kubuntu.

I actually pre-ordered the book in February lol >.< I really excited for it!!! And I'm with you in the movie, I don't really care either.

The Death Penalty is a horrible crime and is it portrayed as an deep unjust figure in many of Victor Hugo's books (One of my favorite authors).

The coding languages seems really confusing. Do you have switch OS consistently for specific coding or are they compatible with like one OS?

Nothing new, except volunteering at a local library and it is not as fun as I thought it would be. I thought I could get away with a little reading but I have case movies & cds, stamp books, and make sure the books go to the right charts. It's actually rather tiring going back and forth. And I'm taking Precalculus over the summer @ Baruch College.

I figure I may go if I need a distraction or a treat.

Only Hugo I read was Hunchback, and I kind of like the Disney better in some way. Well like both, but for very different reasons.

Almost all languages have IDE's (development environments -think Visual.net) for linux, and a whole bunch have 'em for windows. It can get tricky with Macs, but seeing as the director of Computer Engineering uses one, I figure there are ways to pull it off.

I wish I'd known about the Baruch thing, I've got their pre-cal book at home 'cause my brother goes there.

lol I disliked the Disney version so much! They focused on making Dom Claude Frollo the villian but in the book, the true villian was the Cathedral, the roles of society, the indifference of people and their perception of beauty being about love. Also, they've maked Phoebus a much more dramatized prince charming than the indifferent knight in the book. And of course, the 'Disney happy ever after' ending that was totally opposite in the book. A better version than the disney's was the classic movie with Anthony Quinn as Quasimodo. What did you like about the Disney and the book? lol sorry about the ranting ( ... )

Frollo was still the bad guy in the book, but he was much more sympathetic, understandable, and well human. Which by the way is what I love about the book, how the most fleshed out character is the villain. His horrible behavior is even more monstrous in some ways precisely because we know that he has the potential to be a good person. Jehan is my favorite character in the novel, because he's just so much fun, but he's also a big part of Frollo's characterization. Which is also both the flaw and the strength of the book, that the only 3D characters are Frollo and the cathedral ( ... )
