She was also waiting for Brendan's call with a mixture of anticipation and dread, mostly dread. She dreaded what he would tell her about Patrick; he didn't need more stress on top of everything else. And she dreaded what she had to tell him; he didn't need more stress on top of everything else. Maybe she shouldn't tell him now. It could wait since the danger was over anyway. Vic had taken her to the doctor and she had some tranquilizers, but she was studiously only taking the recommended dose, for now.
When her phone rang and she saw Brendan's number, she took a deep breath and answered. "Brendan. How's Patrick?"
