I understand advil is just a brand of ibuprofen, which is preferable for this sort of injury, but what dosage are you taking? if you really want it to just go away, you may want to pick up some 400mg ibuprofen tablets -- that will steamroll pretty much any inflammatory pain (they give 600mg to people getting root canals, to my understanding).
is it the actual pad of your shoulder? you may have bursitis, not tendonitis.
still no idea why you might have it? 'bad posture' can be a contributing factor, I have an odd area of my spine that gets upset if I don't sit upright.
Well, I have started using Aleve instead, which is an extra 20mg per tablet (220mg instead of the 200mg Advil), and it seems to be helping.
The pain started (as far as I can remember perceiving) in my shoulder, but is now more in my biceps (usually a dull pain when I'm not moving my arm and a sharp pain if I move in certain ways) and somewhat in one of the muscles of my thumb (usually when I reach for something). Were it bursitis, the pain would only be in the shoulder joint itself as far as I know.
Now that you mention it, it's fairly possible that sitting on the couch while online instead of a chair in the dining room could have contributed to whatever's going on. There's no other explanation that fits considering that my other arm is just fine. Just to point this out, it's my left arm that's hurting, but my dominant arm is my right one.
