Note that the idea, although considered, does not seem to have been funded. It's not accurate to tag it "your tax dollars at work," unless you mean to do the same for every patent application for a perpetual motion machine that's submitted to and rejected by the USPTO.

If any time was spent developing the idea for the proposal, it would have to be done by someone on the government payroll. Which is tax funded. Making it somewhat accurate.

Or you could just see the inherent humor in the tag, realize it's just an LJ tag, and move along.

IMO there's plenty of government stupidity to ridicule without having to exaggerate or invent more. Posting something that fails elementary fact-checking discredits everyone who shares your position.

This reminds me of the last story in Roald Dalh's "Switchbitch", and just how very horribly awry this could go when it somehow, by some awful accident, exploded in a US military base. Coz that's what WOULD happen, in a good, just, righteous world.
