[FAIL!Private to Iago]

I've been in the infirmary for about twenty hours without setting foot outside. If you can find any Red Bull-- [Mutter mutter:] You don't know what Red Bull is... [SIGH.] Coffee. Food. Now.

[OOC: This is obviously the best time to treat your significant other like a servant. Feel free to think Rex is making these ( Read more... )

event: murder of crows, rex is a terrible boyfriend, infirmary, rex + failure = otp

I know what a red bull is. [No. He means an ACTUAL red bull.] And I doubt there is one here.

I am not your slave.

Mild electric shocks upon contact. [Snort.] They're getting worse, however. [BECAUSE REX STILL KEEPS TRYING TO PLAY WITH TECHNOLOGY.]

Are you alright? [And now he's rummaging through something. But, VICTORY is his and he resumes walking.]

Though...if you're already in the infirmary, I'm sure you'll be fine.

I'm fine, just... tired. [And when he's tired, he wants CANDY AND ENERGY DRINKS.]

Yeah, I'll be fantastic.

[LUCKILY FOR HIM, Iago has a pocketful of candy. He walked into the infirmary, finding Rex, and rose a brow.] I couldn't find any red bulls.

[Rex was sitting on the edge of a bed, trying his damnedest to stay awake. When Iago walked up to him, he blinked his eyes sluggishly, then patted a spot beside him to invite Iago to sit.]

Did you try the fridge? [He yawned.] Pull the curtains when you sit.

[The soldier sat and handed over a fistful of candy.]

Why would a bull be in a fridge? [He turned and pulled the curtains tightly.]

Thanks. [YAY CANDY. Rex took it in his hands and began to suck on the first piece. Delicious sugar. He gave Iago a weird look.]

You said you knew what Red Bull is. [He punched Iago on the shoulder lightly, playfully-- ONLY BECAUSE HE WAS SLEEP DEPRIVED-- and leaned against him.] It's a drink.

[Iago shook his head.]

I know what a- Oh. Then I don't know what a red bull is.

It's a drink. Like coffee, but stronger, and it looks and tastes... completely unnatural. I practically lived off of it in grad school. [He laughed distractedly and popped some more candy into his mouth.] It's disgusting.

Then why do you drink it?

[He ran his fingers through his hair.]

To stay awake. [He dropped his head on Iago's shoulder, as it was the closest thing he had to a pillow right now. Of course, it was sort of counterproductive, since the goal was to not sleep.] It's funny; it's not even my favorite food by far. But it's something I miss here.

[Iago wrapped an arm around him and held him close.]

What would you rather have?

Hmm... [He closed his eyes to think. What was something he'd enjoyed that he hadn't had since coming to the Barge?] Sushi. Or-- oh! [He slapped Iago's chest as it came to him, eyes opening.] No. Oreo cookies. But not real Oreos-- not the black and white ones. The ones with the vanilla cookies. Or with one vanilla, one chocolate...

...

Or a burrito.

There was this hole in the wall, near where I went to school? It had the best... the best burritos.

[Rex needed sleep.]

[Iago sensed that. And so he was only half paying attention. Burritos did not come from holes in walls. He rubbed his chest where Rex had hit him and fixed the other man with a skeptical look.]

How long have you been working now?

Mmm. [It took a while to process that question. He lazily chewed on some more candy.] Twenty-four hours. I think?

...

Yeah.
