This one got away from me a little. Lots of pics. Lots of angsting commentrary and flailing.

Oh and I should preface this by saying it's a looooong one.  I find Cara/Dahlia fascinating so I talk about them a lot.

I LOVE THIS RECAP. It made me LOL multiple times. And that GIF really never gets tiring.

Also:

AND THIS NEXT BIT IS WHAT BROKE ME OK JUST FOR THE RECORD. If it didn’t break your heart probably you are dead inside.

Probably? If it didn't break anyone's heart then they are MOST DEFINITELY dead on the inside!! I think what I love about C/D is that they clearly have ~lingering feelings~ for each other.

(Isn’t it hilarious how after three seconds of it being Cara’s job to get the Stone she does actually get it? As opposed to like months and months of questing. CARA GETS SHIT DONE.)

LOL YES. That made me laugh. XDD.

This is it exactly. It's not that Dahlia is evil and heartless and using Cara. She really does care. You always hurt the one you love, after all...

And that GIF really never gets tiring.

Right? :D

That's what I really liked about their storyline. It wasn't this kindling of true love between them, it was this mess of complicated feelings, and it was interesting.

Exactly! I want to know every little detail of what happened to them because there's such a great story there imo.

But she's not heartless, even if she maybe wants to be.

THIS. That's what makes it so interesting. It's not about the evil Mord'Sith using Cara and being all heartless about it. She genuinely cares. Is it a little messed up? Yes, but good lord it's compelling.

If a Mord’Sith smiling when she’s not torturing someone isn’t love...

Love of Evil, perhaps?

Does anyone know where the second shot of Kahlan in Cara's daydream is from? I know the first is from Broken (how fitting!).

Just so you know: I really enjoy your Cara caps. :)

Love of Evil, perhaps?

Hmm perhaps. But I do think she genuinely cares about Cara and is happy to have her back. I think it works both ways!

I really want to know where the second cap is from too. I couldn't place it either.

Just so you know: I really enjoy your Cara caps. :)

Thank you! :D

Ah, one of the Holy Grails of f/f LotS-y goodness. Delicious subtext and maintext all in one easy bite size package. :)

Seriously, guys - all that BR is doing in those first two scenes? Makes the lack of it in "Unbroken" even more glaringly MIA. Cause look at those faces!

And I actually love all the caps of Dahlia showing how conflicted she is about playing Judas and after, when she sees what this really means for Cara. (One of my fav moments is after the xtra evil mojo is put on the agiel, D says "Careful My Lord" and Rahl thinks D is all concerned for him, but I think she's secretly appalled that he's about to use that on Cara.)

And oh, yeah, Cara's "divided mind" with Kahlan first and twice still makes me all warm inside. And Cara's voice totally wavers when she says Kahlan's name.

*sigh* If only they'd stopped here! ;)

Great treat as always. Thanks!

THIS SO MUCH. I was spoiler free for all LotS eps so when I heard that the next ep was called Unbroken I got all excited and started telling my gf how awesome it'd be because it would totally be Kahlan's friendship love that redeemed Cara in the next episode because why would they set it all up and waste it etc etc only to be proven extremely wrong. ...This is perhaps a rant for the next recap lol.

Yes I think so too. The look on her face when she walks in for the first time and sees what Rahl has done to Cara is just heartbreaking, and she only seems to get more concerned as the torture goes on.

*sigh* If only they'd stopped here! ;)

AMEN.

This is perhaps a rant for the next recap lol.

Please, rant away. It'll be like communal therapy. ;)

We really do need some sort of therapy. I feel like setting up a support group for 'cynical media savvy lesbians with a certain knowledge of queer representation who were disappointed by the finale.' That's a bit unwieldy for a support group title though, lol.

Wonderful insights: "You make it about duty because that’s something you both understand. Never mind that duty has always meant love to the two of you, a connection forged in a dungeon when all you had was each other to ward off the agiels, something they couldn’t train out of you no matter how hard they tried."
