LOL CARA IS SARCASTIC. This is how she shows her feelings. Zedd calls Cara ‘Kahlan’ and Cara is all WHAT DID YOU JUST CALL ME? Little defensive about your girlfriend there Cara? It’s like when people call me by my girlfriend’s name (both our names start with H and for some reason we always get called the opposite name). Cara ducks when Richard and Kahlan go flying and then calmly turns Zedd’s power back on him. Cuz she’s badass like that.
“WHY IS IT THAT WHEN I’M HUNTING DOWN A MAN I DON’T HAVE TO LOOK FURTHER THAN THE FIRST BROTHEL PAST THE CITY GATES?” Oh Cara. Though given the events in Eternity re: Dahlia and Rahl discovering her weakness is women, it’s a little hypocritical. Also hilarious. She’s all WHY ARE MEN SUCH DOGS - OH HAI DAHLIA ILU LET’S SERVE RICHARD TOGETHER AND HAVE FEELINGS.
SHOTA CAME TO ASK FOR CARA’S HELP BECAUSE CARA CAN SAVE EVERYTHING. “Funny how people always curse the Mord’Sith, until they need one.” Cara agiels Shota to get Shota to reverse the spell on Zedd because she cares for Zedd (or more likely feels it’s her duty to help Richard and Richard wants the spell reversed, or even more likely Kahlan is upset and Cara wants to fix that stat.) SHE’S HELPING SOMEONE OK EVEN IF THE MOTIVATION IS HAZY. This is the first time she helps of her own volition rather than because she’s ordered to by Richard. CARA GETS SHIT DONE is basically what’s being established here. Cara smiles when threatening Shota. This will be a theme. She also defends Richard and Kahlan. And calls Kahlan Kahlan and not Confessor. She’s starting to care! FEEEELINGS. Cara manages to kick ass whilst still holding onto Shota LOL. Girl can multitask.
Cara is all srs business when Zedd’s ladyfriend dies all, “BREAK. THE. SPELL.” AND SHE’S ACTUALLY UPSET THAT ONE OF HER FRIENDS IS HAVING FEELINGS YOU GUYS even if it is Zedd. “She’s of no use to us now should I kill her?” Cara actually looks devastated when Shota disappears like SHE MADE ME FEEL FEELINGS AND YOU WON’T LET ME KILL HER? I find this endearing because there is something wrong with me.

2.06 Fury
RICHARD TEACHING CARA HOW TO HUNT BWAHAHA. “I’M HERE TO PROTECT YOU RICHARD NOT PROVIDE DINNER.” Richard says Kahlan and Zedd contribute and it’s like domestic bliss or some sort of creepy cult collective. Cara is like “ARE YOU SAYING I’M NOT DOING ENOUGH FOR YOU?” All sexy like. Richard just looks at her with a long suffering air. This is really about them finding the balance and becoming a functioning unit. Despite her protests Cara is happy to hunt (and happier not to have to serve in the other way).
The minders blah blah. CARA RUNS HER HAND UP HER BOW UNF (Someone made a gif of this right? Right?). “I’d kill a thousand men before I let one make me his slave.” Once again, Cara is like, “They don’t want our help, come the fuck on.” Only now because she’s learning she frames it as they need to get back to Kahlan and Zedd because this is more acceptable than just being sarcastic. Cara looks inappropriately turned on at the mention of fighting. Just sayin’. Richard splits them up like R/K on one plot vs Z/C on another again and this has got to stop soon plz. Needs moar C/K.
Cara brings them dinner, some rabbits which she has successfully hunted using her new Richard-taught skillz. The minder woman is like WE DON’T EAT ANYTHING THAT’S BEEN KILLED and Cara says ACTUALLY I FOUND THEM BY THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE THEY DIED A NATURAL PEACEFUL DEATH *CRAZY EYES* LOL. I love her so much you guys. Cara says they’re ridiculous and repeats, “THEY DON’T WANT OUR HELP.” Zedd tells her to go with them to protect them while they gather berries. The minder woman makes her try a berry while the music swells and Cara is all FINE I’LL EAT YOUR BERRIES BUT I WON’T LIKE THEM before they get attacked and Cara kicks some ass. The minder won’t let Cara hurt the thug and Cara thinks this is THE LAST STRAW and pouts adorably.
The POWERFUL MAGIC affects Richard. Cara is sceptical as per all SO WHAT IF RICHARD IS ANGRY. I’M ANGRY. WHY ARE WE EVEN HERE. Richard and the minder fighters kill all the soldiers. Kahlan, Cara, Zedd and Minder woman find a minder who was taken slave and Cara looks happy again when she talks about the terrible fighting she saw LOL. Cara defends Richard for killing the men obv. Out of her duty to the Lord Rahl or because she enjoys killing? Who can say. Kahlan and Cara go to get Richard, Zedd says maybe Cara’s Mord’Smith magic can stop him. Cara looks resolute.
Kahlan tries to talk Richard down but he’s having none of it. Cara uses her awesome powers but Richard overcomes it and knocks Cara out so Kahlan goes into revenge mode and kicks the sword out of his hands. Richard snaps out of it and is all concerned about Cara. Kahlan also looks concerned because they’re starting to care for her in spite of themselves.
Minder refuses to heal Cara, and Richard talks her into it. She agrees and Kahlan smiles, relieved. LIKE WHY DID THEY CUT TO A REACTION SHOT OF KAHLAN AT THIS POINT I WONDER?
CARA LOOKS ADORABLE WITH HER BIG BANDAGE ROUND HER HEAD. There’s a whole thing about Richard controlling his anger and the Sword and honestly, who can keep track? What’s important is that Cara still has her adorable bandage on and Kahlan is really pretty. Then the compass of plot points again so off they go to find the Stone of Tears.
Cara wants to thank the minder woman but instead says THE ONES WHO WOULD DIE FOR THEIR BELIEFS WERE ALWAYS THE HARDEST TO BREAK, I THINK YOU WOULD BE ESPECIALLY DIFFICULT, because she’s Cara and can’t admit to her feeeeelings. But still this is Progress.

2.07 Resurrection
The gang are quite spectacularly fighting some D’Harans. Cara and Kahlan tag team a guy and Kahlan confesses him. There’s some plot about Grix wanting to be Lord Rahl and Whisperers but what’s important is that DENNA IS BACK. Richard splits them up Z/K and R/C, Z/K go to stop the Whisperers, Z/C go after Grix.
Cara bugs Richard about being the Lord Rahl and basically accuses him of not being ruthless enough. IF CARA WAS LORD RAHL SHE WOULD KILL EVERYONE WHO LOOKED AT HER SIDEWAYS. “A General trying to conquer all of D’Hara makes a detour to a brothel... should I pretend to be surprised?” LOL call back to Wizard. DENNA. Cara’s like YOU’RE A WHORE NOW *SEXY EYES* and Denna straight up offers her a job LOL. Denna offers them free whores COMPLIMENTS OF THE HOUSE and sashays away. Richard watches Denna walk away, Cara watches Richard watching all DUDE YOU HAVE KAHLAN WTF? ALSO SHE TORTURED YOU. Richard tells Cara to go back for Zedd and Kahlan and Cara argues all AFTER WHAT YOU JUST DID YOU EXPECT ME TO LEAVE YOU HERE? BITCH PLEASE, MEN ARE DOGS.
Denna stops Cara on her way out. Cara’s like “Your merchandise is too delicate for my tastes” cuz she likes it rough and would literally break them. They have eye!sex while threatening each other. Denna asks if Cara really thinks Richard is badass enough to be Lord Rahl and Cara replies, hilariously, that’s it not a Mord’Sith’s place to question Lord Rahl LIKE SHE WASN’T DOING THAT VERY THING EARLIER AND DOESN’T MAKE SARCASTIC COMMENTS ALL THE TIME. Then Denna awesomely plays on Cara’s limited understanding of feelings to say that Richard has been COMPROMISED by Kahlan because he cares for her so much he’d do whatever she says without confession, he’d sacrifice anything for her - his mission and even Cara. Cara snaps back YOU DON’T KNOW THE FIRST THING ABOUT THE MOTHER CONFESSOR because she might not understand feeeelings but she knows Kahlan is all about duty (they have that in common). Cara looks pleased with herself and also a little bit dangerous like TALK SMACK ABOUT MY GIRLFRIEND AGAIN AND I WILL CUT YOU before Denna plays her trump card which is basically KAHLAN HATES MORD’SITH AND YOU’RE IN LOVE WITH HER SO LOL. Once again Cara steps in to defend Kahlan’s honour, SHE’S A WOMAN OF HONOUR, SHE SPARED MY LIFE EVEN AFTER SHE LEARNED I KILLED HER SISTER, HER LOYALTIES AREN’T IN QUESTION. And this right here is the moment Cara falls in love I think. Kahlan is loyal and all about duty and an excellent fighter and Cara respects that. Cara can get behind that. She’s also beautiful and dangerous which are pretty high on Cara’s list of suitable traits in a partner right? This is the closest we come at first to seeing her admit to feeeelings and it is glorious. Then Cara threatens Denna again with a smirk and goes. Because even though she has feelings she’s still AWESOME.
Denna kills a chick and brings back Dennee in her body or something. And then she’s like GO KILL CARA FOR REVENGE and Dennee agrees. Richard wakes up chained up and Denna again says he was weak for giving up the D’Haran throne. This is really the theme of the weak, that Richard is the hero and refuses to be like his brother. That you can lead people without forcing them into it through pain and fear. That’s what Denna will never understand and what Cara is coming to understand. Anyway, Cara is ambushed by new!Dennee and Dennee is just about to confess Cara when Kahlan dives in and saves her with an awesome flying tackle. Dennee tries to explain but Kahlan is sceptical until Dennee convinces her with a relevant story and Kahlan tears up and hugs her. Kahlan basically picks Cara over her own sister who throws a shit fit and refuses to go with Cara. Kahlan says she didn’t kill Cara because Cara has proven herself loyal : “She isn’t the person she was when she led that mission, she’s changed.” FEELINGS. THEN CARA’S AGIELS STOP WORKING BECAUSE RICHARD IS DEAD AND THERE’S NO BOND.
Then some plot involving Grix being put into Richard’s body by Denna. Rahl offers to make Richard a baneling to thwart Denna’s plan but Richard refuses all noble and shit. Then Grix-in-Richard becomes Lord Rahl while Denna looks on in her white leather, smirking sufficiently.
Cara and Kahlan sneak into the D’Haran camp and rescue Richard. Denna is topping him because this is what Denna does. Denna and Cara fight and Cara is all CAREFUL YOU DON’T WANT TO GET BLOOD ALL OVER YOUR NICE WHITE LEATHER. Cara also looks inappropriately turned on AGAIN. This is why I love her. Loads of guards come in just as Kahlan kills Grix-in-Richard. Kahlan convinces the guards to go away and Cara tries to go after Denna but Kahlan stops her. Cara stops because she will do anything her girlfriend says at this point.
Cara apologises to Dennee but Dennee doesn’t accept. “I needed to say it anyway.” Kahlan looks on like she can’t believe what she’s hearing and this right here is the moment Kahlan falls in love with Cara. Or really sees Cara as something other than Mord’Sith. Of course she ruins it by immediately making out with Richard now he’s back in his body but hey. OVERCOMPENSATING. AS THEY KISS WE GET CARA’S REACTION SHOT AND I AM NOT MAKING THIS UP. She just stares with that controlled face she does so well. Probably thinking WHY DOESN’T KAHLAN GREET ME LIKE THAT? She decides the best way of channelling her feeeeelings is by encouraging them to go after Denna BECAUSE SHE NEEDS TO PUNCH SOMETHING and so they do.
