Report of possible icon theft

Hi, first post here on behalf of friends who will follow and answer comments.

Icon maker smelltheflowers discovered a theft of her icons being shared in an icon community.

This is one link to her icons which were stolen (There may be more.) I asked her to open it since her community is flocked. Post at Rapture Icons. Check on page four at the bottom of

How interesting about 0_i_t_y_t_0. While the link in your post to the post within that community has been locked, one of smelltheflowers icons is in their preview post. I'll send t_w_o an email.

I suggested smelltheflowers also capture the original post, so she has that as well as I see sevvy_o.

I also suggested she report it at hotlinkers, since they do share icon theft information there with the pool of icon makers.

smelltheflowers also does Disney icons and the like, so it's possible those have been taken as well.

Thank you so much for posting this, jans_intentions, and thank you also to spiralleds for being willing to lend a hand in this situation.

To be honest, I was completely thrown to see that someone would spend their time stealing from others, and I was quite intimidated when I saw their hostile responses to those that questioned their actions. Left to my own devices I would probably have done my best to steer clear of the situation, as I'm not very comfortable with confrontation.

If you need any clarification on the issue, I'd be more than happy to try and help to the best of my ability :)

You're welcome. I realize the winter icons aren't really fannish, but there seems to be enough fannish content woven into this that it seems logical to look into it further.

Hi there. I just wanted to give you an update. There was a thread in raptureicons, which I think is now gone or locked as private, where you linked me to the posts you had done of Beauty and the Beast, I <3 Huckabees, Kurt Halsey, and Alice in Wonderland. Thank you. Those were helpful toward the case due to their presence in the vixe_icons community in Greatest Journal. Just so you know, given that Raptureicons is a closed community (understandably so), I made screencaps so I can show how these were some of the ones taken and repost in vixe_icons. I'm slowing working up the summary. Lots of links and screencaps to weave in.

I saw that community and I was stunned at the attitude that all icon makers do is crop an image and therefore their work is fair game and they are emo pieces of garbage for wanting credit... I have many friends who make icons and I am acutely aware that there is a lot more to making a good icon than cropping an image. They DESERVE credit.

It looks like at least some of the ones in vixe_icons are hotlinked, as the same Snape one that wouldn't load in your post wouldn't load in exactly the same was within that community. I'm not sure if it is worth your while to do a replace on all of those or not.

I warned several icon communities about that place as well so...at least most people have a heads up.

This girl must be banning people from joining the comm that she has seen on this comm or hotlinkers because I just tried to join to see the posts, and for some strange reason I'd already been banned from joining the community, so it could be hard for people to see if she took any of their graphics
